Start your tour from Porta Aquileia<\/strong>, the oldest gate in the city, located a few steps from the Train Station. Enter the Cathedral of Santa Maria Annunziata<\/strong> and discover its works of art. Next stop: Piazza della Libert\u00e0, the oldest square in Udine. In the square stand the Loggia del Lionello<\/strong> (<\/strong>town hall) and, opposite to it, the Clock Tower<\/strong>\u00a0 and the Loggia di San Giovanni.<\/strong> Then, visit the Diocesan Museum<\/strong>, the Tiepolo Galleries<\/strong>, the Patriarchal Palace<\/strong> and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Now reach Piazza Matteotti<\/strong>, characteristic for its arcades, shops and outdoor bars. Right here is also the Church of San Giacomo<\/strong>. Afterwards, begin the climb towards the Castle<\/strong> and the Civic Museums<\/strong> of the city, passing first by the Church of Santa Maria di Castello<\/strong>.
\nFinally, stroll along Via Mercatovecchio<\/strong> and make the most of it by doing some shopping or enjoying the tranquillity of Parco del Cormor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

GASTRONOMIC SPECIALTIES<\/h3>\n

More than a gastronomic tradition of the city we are talking about a typical regional cuisine, characterized by simple recipes and genuine flavors. Udine’s excellences are Prosciutto San Daniele<\/strong>, Prosciutto di Sauris<\/strong> (a smoked ham from the village of Sauris) and goose salami<\/strong>. Frico<\/strong> is one the most typical dishes of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Its preparation varies from one location to another. The recipe includes potatoes, onions and cheese, amalgamated and cooked in a frying pan.<\/p>\n

Among the most common first courses we find polenta<\/strong>, cjarzons<\/strong> (typical sweet and salty ravioli seasoned with herbs, various meats and cheeses), risotto allo sclopit<\/strong> and orzotto<\/strong>. Vegetables are widely used both for the preparation of omelettes and as side dishes. Examples are the brovada<\/strong> (white turnip) and the asparagus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Regional cuisine abounds with fish-based main courses such as the turbot<\/strong>, the boreto alla graisana<\/strong> (pan-roasted pieces of sea bass in a unique sauce) and the salmon trout<\/strong>. For those who prefer meat there is cotechino<\/strong> (pork sausage), usually served with vegetables or legumes.<\/p>\n

For dessert decide among gubana<\/strong>,almond cake<\/strong>, sweet<\/strong> strucolo <\/strong>and the most popular ones: strudel<\/strong> and\u00a0 tiramisu<\/strong>. UDINE BUS STOP<\/h3>\n

Our bus stop is located at the bus terminal of via Europa Unita n. 16, close to the travel agency ‘Display Viaggi’ that sells Buscenter tickets.
\nThe bus station is an area with an entrance on via Europa Unita and an exit on via Leopardi. There is a bus lane on the right and a series of departure platforms on the left.
\nPlatforms are not very large, they are oriented obliquely and are adjacent to each other. Each platform has a small portion of pavement where the buses pull over. Platforms and pedestrian walkways are covered with a high canopy. Leaving the bus station from Viale Europa Unita, on the right, you can reach the Train Station in about five minutes.<\/p>\n
