WHAT TO SEE IN MESSINA<\/h3>\n

Begin your tour of Messina by visiting the Church of Santa Maria degli Alemanni<\/strong> and the Santissima Annunziata dei Catalani Church<\/strong>. Continue the tour with Palazzo Calapaj-D\u2019alcontres <\/strong>and the\u00a0Church of Santa Maria Assunta<\/strong>. Enter the Bell Tower and admire the Astronomical Clock<\/strong>. In Piazza Duomo you will also find the Fountain of Orion<\/strong>. Now visit Palazzo Zanca<\/strong>, then walk along the promenade until you reach the Neptune Fountain<\/strong>. From here you can see the Madonnina del porto<\/strong>. Complete the tour by stopping at the Regional Museum<\/strong> of the city.<\/p>\n

MESSINESI SPECIALTIES<\/h3>\n

Sit down at the table and taste the Majorcan cheese<\/strong> and the calcagno<\/strong> (a typical pecorino cheese) together with the local salami<\/strong>. Another typical appetizer is caponata<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As first course choose among: linguine with seafood<\/strong>, pasta with anchovies<\/strong> or pasta with sardines<\/strong>, pasta with breadcrumbs<\/strong> or pasta with cauliflower.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Among the second courses there are seafood dishes such as “stocco alla ghiotta”<\/strong> (salted codfish and tomato, capers, olives, and potatoes), blue fish<\/strong>, grilled swordfish<\/strong>, sardines “a beccafico”<\/strong> and mussels “impepata”<\/strong>. Among the meat specialities you will find the Nebrodi black pig<\/strong> and the falso magro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For dessert try with pignolata<\/strong>, or black and white<\/strong>, cannoli<\/strong>, cassate<\/strong>, royal pasta<\/strong> and granitas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Our bus stop is in Piazza della Repubblica<\/strong>, in front of the Train Station. To reach it by tram, simply get off at “Repubblica” stop where, a few meters away, is located our tickets sale point, always opened during the hours of the various departures. For those arriving by train, simply exit the station and walk a few metres to the left to reach the sale point.<\/p>\n
