WHAT TO SEE IN VENICE<\/h3>\n

Here are some key places to visit during your journey. We suggest you get lost in the streets of Venice and admire the city in all its splendour.<\/p>\n

Start your tour from Piazza San Marco<\/strong>. Here are the homonymous Basilica <\/strong>and the Bell Tower<\/strong>, the Doge’s Palace<\/strong> and the Clock Tower<\/strong>. A few steps from the square are the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute<\/strong> and the Bridge of Sighs<\/strong>.
\nThen climb the steps of the Rialto Bridge<\/strong> and enjoy the view on the Grand Canal<\/strong>, near which are the Casino Venier<\/strong>, the Peggy Guggenheim Museum<\/strong>, the \u00a0Rialto Market<\/strong> and the Accademia Galleries<\/strong>. Other places not to be missed are the Scuola Grande di San Rocco<\/strong>, the Basilica dei Frari<\/strong>, the Jewish ghetto<\/strong> and the Acqua Alta<\/strong> library<\/strong>l.<\/p>\n

VENETIAN GASTRONOMIC SPECIALTIES<\/h3>\n

The best place where you can taste the typical Venetian cuisine is a bacaro<\/strong>, that is to say the characteristic osteria of the city. Discover the flavors of Venice starting from the cich\u00e9ti<\/strong>, that is the appetizers, such as the creamy<\/strong> cod <\/strong>and the sarde in saor <\/strong>(fried sardines serves with onions, pine nuts and raisins).<\/p>\n

Two typical specialties among the first courses are risi e bisi<\/strong> (a soupy rice and peas dish) and pasta with beans<\/strong>.
\nMany are the dishes based on fish and seafood, including spaghetti with clams<\/strong> or with nero di seppia<\/strong> (cuttlefish ink sauce), bigoli in salsa <\/strong>(Venetian typical “spaghetti” in anchovy sauce) and risotto di go <\/strong>(made from a salty broth lagoon fish)-<\/p>\n

Among the main courses, the local cuisine offers polenta an schie <\/strong>(shrimp served on a bed of polenta), granseola<\/strong> (crab meat) and fegato<\/strong>\u00a0alla veneziana <\/strong>(calf’s liver). You can also enjoy\u00a0a good\u00a0fish fry,\u00a0<\/strong>or the\u00a0moleche\u00a0<\/strong>(small green crabs found in the lagoon) and\u00a0mesanete <\/strong>(another type of crab of the Venetian lagoon).<\/p>\n

During the Carnival period, don’t forget to taste the fritole <\/strong>(little fried dough balls with raisin and rum).

VENICE MESTRE<\/h3>\n

Mestre bus stop is located in viale Stazione n. 16, in front of Saba Parking (a multi-layered car parking).
\nAt the bus stop there is a Buscenter signpost with the indication of the connections to and from Mestre.<\/p>\n

VENEZIA TRONCHETTO<\/h3>\n

This bus stop is located at Isola Nova del Tronchetto, a place of no tourist interest, but strategic as a bus stop, because it is well connected to Piazzale Roma, from where you can get to piazza S. Marco by vaporetto (water bus). Right in front of the bus stop is the train station ‘People Mover’, from which electric trains run every 7 minutes.
\nThrough this very efficient service you can easily reach the centre of Venice.
\nOur buses stop at a small square, where a Buscenter signpost indicates the daily bus services, the destinations and the time schedules.
\nA yellow stripe marks where the buses stop. From the bus stop you can see a suggestive view of the cruise port.<\/p>\n

MARCO POLO VENICE AIRPORT<\/h3>\n

The new bus terminal is located in front of the Tamoil petrol station, in an area once used as a car parking (P7).<\/p>\n

This terminal is provided with 47 lay-bys, 10 more than the previous one, and it is a few minutes walk from the flight terminal through a covered walkway.<\/p>\n
