Rome is the capital of Italy. Many centuries ago Rome was the Capital of the huge Roman Empire. During that time many beautiful monuments were built. We can still admire some of them. The Colosseum is the icon of the Roman history. Rome is also the center of the Catholic Church. A visit to the Vatican museums is highly recommended. On Sundays people from anywhere gather in Piazza San Pietro to see the Pope Francis celebrating Mass.
The most popular Roman dishes are: bucatini alla matriciana, artichokes alla romana, spaghetti alla carbonara… Very beautiful especially in Spring are Piazza di Spagna/and Villa Borghese.
