TRIESTINE SPECIALTIES
Start with a chopping board of local cold cuts, or with sardoni in savor (sweet and sour sardines) or granseole alla triestina (local crab).
Among the first courses you will find many soups such as Jota, bobici soup (a soup with beans and corn) and pasta and beans alla triestina. Other local specialties are bread, liver or plum dumplings. Then there are the rice dishes such as risi and bisi or strucoli (stuffed pasta rolls).
Goulash, the cevapcici (mixed meat sausages), purzina with capuzi (pork and sauerkrut), luganighe sausages and calandraca (a meat and potato stew) are just some of the meat based dishes of Trieste culinary tradition. Among the fish dishes, prawns alla busara, cod with tomato sauce and Istrian cod stand out. As a side dish, sauerkraut and potatoes cannot miss.
For dessert, taste the Presnitz, the Koch de Gries and the cuguluf, better if accompanied by a good glass of Terrano or Vitovska.
TRIESTE BUS TERMINAL
Our bus stop is in via Città di Santos n. 8, outside the bus station.
Buses arrive from viale Miramare, skirting the side front of the railway station and continuing along Piazza Della Libertà. They pass then the intersection with via Flavio Gioia and arrive at Largo Città Di Santos (on the right of which is the pedestrian entrance to the bus station – Silos). Although there is no Buscenter signpost, the horizontal yellow stripes mark the area where the buses stop.
Inside the bus station there is a lounge room where you can wait or where you can buy tickets. There is also a bar and toilets for a fee. The bus station is therefore located between the streets Flavio Gioia and Largo Città di Santos.
